9 Advantages of Online Ordering for Restaurants

Top 10 Online Ordering Systems for Restaurants to Look Out for in 2020

We're digital nomads, living a digital life! And one thing that we have learned over the course of this evolution is that whatever we want or need, can be obtained with just a few clicks on our beloved smart devices. Even the food - all kinds, to satiate our different cravings on different days of the week. It's really an era that has something for everyone - whether a consumer or a provider.

Given the changing scenarios, largely, consumers have come to expect the ability of a restaurant to allow them to place orders online. If you are in a restaurant business and yet to join the bandwagon of the restaurant online ordering system, you're already missing out on some great opportunities   to grow your business exponentially. By adopting new technology, you don't just simplify the lives of your customers, but also ensure that your business is able to stand tall in the competitor market. When it comes to online ordering, the choice of technology isn't about the ability to order online, but also to reach the right people in the right places and at the right time.

Here are the 9 advantages of online ordering:

1. Makes the ordering process easier

Traditionally, people had to make calls to place orders or drive to the restaurants for a take-out, then wait for the food to be prepared and delivered. Sometimes, placing an order on the phone means that there could be mistakes in order. Clearly, these aren't really the best solutions to order food from restaurants especially for people with busy lifestyles.

The best solution is switching over to online ordering. Restaurants owners can create a website or an app or both that will not only make the ordering process easier for customers but also streamline restaurant operations. Having an online ordering system can make the day-to-day operations more efficient for a restaurant. On the other hand, when a customer places an order online, they take their time to browse the menu and get familiar with add-on deals and offers that your restaurant must be offering. This can lead to an exponential increase in the total sale value per order.

2. Efficient customer and order management

An online ordering system for Restaurants helps enhance the customer-restaurant relationship by providing end to end Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. It provides a complete sales dashboard with information about new/active/canceled orders, lifetime sales details, etc.

It also comes with an order management system that streamlines the entire ordering process starting from order placement to final delivery.

Whenever customers place an order, an efficient online ordering system sends notifications via email or SMS to help the restaurant staff make the order execution faster. On the other hand, such software are also equipped with GPS systems that help you capture the entire address that in turn ensure timely and fast deliveries.

3. Monitor your expenses incurred in real time

This is the greatest benefit of the online ordering system, it gives precise information about the cash flow in the restaurant. You get to keep track of costs incurred during preparing an order and compare it to the cost you are giving it to the customer, all this while keeping a track on the profitability. In a day when you receive hundreds of orders, an online ordering system will give you an accurate monetary translation of each order without having you look into cash registers.

4. Free and cheap marketing

By enhancing your brand’s online presence in the market, you can boost your sales with additional new and returning customers.

Having a strong online presence  simply means being in front of your customers 24X7 without having to pay for expensive media advertising and billboards. How? Internet is a free community and all you need is a user-friendly website and a decent social media engagement on social platforms like Facebook and Instagram to reach your target audience. All this comes at a fraction of the cost that you would have spent on traditional means of marketing and promotions. You can also invest some time in creating a strong company profile on Google My Business so people looking out to order food in your area or in your delivery range can find your business with a quick search. Having a dedicated team that can post on social media regularly and engages with your customers will prove to be a good investment to drive traffic and sales on the website.

Pro Tip: Show the human side of the business and engage with the local community positively. Establish yourself as someone who really cares about the customers, and don’t be shy to show it. Use these social platforms to their fullest.

5. Better customers data

Who are your regular customers? What do they like ordering from your restaurant? Which food items are popular? Are they aware of the promotions and offers on the website? Do they prefer ordering from website or app? These and many other related questions can be answered using analytics and insights provided by a robust online ordering system for restaurants. This data is valuable since you can use it to send targeted promotions to your customers and entice them to keep coming back.

In-house solutions allow you to analyze ordering trends and customer preferences in depth so you can customize your menu, offerings, deals prices, and so on to provide a tailored experience to everyone.

6. The convenience of mobile ordering

From meetings to crowded areas, there are times when one may not be able to make a phone call to order food. Online ordering allows customers to order anytime, anywhere using their mobiles, tablets or other handheld devices. There is no need for the customer to reach out and make a call meanwhile disturbing their privacy or disrupting a meeting for a lunch order. With a mobile app, the customer can quietly place an order without the hassle of talking over the phone. A mobile-friendly website or app  will make sure that you never lose a customer.

7. Stay ahead of the competition

Did you know there are only 2-3% of restaurants in the world that offer online ordering facility? This is your chance to make the most of this opportunity and make your restaurants available to your customers on their fingertips. With the growing consumer demand for faster, more convenient ways to order, independent restaurants are investing in this new takeout technology to stay ahead in the competition.

“In 2016, the percentage of restaurant orders placed online exceeded the quantity placed verbally over the phone”.

Domino’s Pizza introduced their online ordering system in 2010 and since then the company has grown to become the second-largest pizza chain in the world with the stock price rising from Rs 600 to Rs 15000.

Race ahead of the competition now!

8. Grow your bottom line

Because in the end, that's what that really matters!

According to the survey conducted by Restolabs' research team, it was found that Orders placed online are 20 percent larger on average, which means more revenue. When customers can browse the menu without feeling rushed by lines, they tend to spend more time deciding what to order. The math is simple: the more time they have to look over, the more they are likely to order. You can highlight specific items on menus and run promotions to influence their purchase. Now that’s profit!

Take the first step towards increasing your profits now.

9. Greater reach

Your restaurant seating capacity may be 100-200 at a time, or even less, but with online ordering, you can reach thousands of people at a time,  and cater to a much larger number without having to make any additional investment in staff or infrastructure. All you need is a well-integrated online ordering system and you are good to go!

Want to grow beyond your physical limitations? Go online now!

Now it’s your turn

These 9 benefits do not scratch the surface of the numerous benefits of Online Ordering For Restaurants. Setting up an online ordering system sets up a restaurant for efficiency, growth and a steady increase in revenue.

Most people are online for hours every day. By implementing an online ordering system coupled with effective marketing strategies, you’ll not only meet your customers where they are, but you’ll also stand out as an innovative business.  If you’re new to online ordering, a good way to start is to encourage customers to order on your site by offering discounts.

Why Wouldn't You Travel More When There Are So Many Benefits of Traveling?

Person Holding World Globe Facing Mountain

Everyone keeps saying how important it is to travel. So what's all this about? Why do people travel and love travelling?

More importantly: why should we travel more?

  • The benefits of traveling are not just a one-time thing: traveling changes you physically and psychologically. Having little time or money isn't a valid excuse. You can fly for cheap very easily. If you have a full-time job and a family, you can still travel on the weekends or holidays, even with baby.

Here are some of the main benefits of traveling. And I'm sure that once you get started, you'll find some more yourself!

The Benefits of Traveling: Why You Should Travel More in 2020

1. Traveling Improves Your Health

Silhouette Photography of Group of People Jumping during Golden Time

From cutting down on stress, to lowering your chances of developing a heart disease, the health benefits of traveling are huge. You may stay sitting on a chair all day long at the workplace: including some walking to your trip is sure to make your body feel better. For some people, wandering abroad is even a cure for depression and anxiety. Ofcourse, it's not a foolproof cure, but it might help you feel better, both physically and psychologically.

Traveling more is likely to have a tremendous impact on your mental well-being, especially if you're no used to going out of your comfort zone. Trust me: travel more and your doctor will be happy. Be sure to get in touch with your physician, they might recommend some medication to accompany you in your travels, especially if you're heading to regions of the globe with potentially dangerous diseases.

2. Traveling Lets You Disconnect From Your Daily Life

Silhouette of Person Walking

This is closely related to my previous point. We tend to get so caught up in our daily lives that sometimes, by simply sticking around, we may do ourselves more harm
than good. Your boss is taking over your life? Kids are driving you mad? Your parents are trying to make you live the life they want? How long do you think you can handle this pressure before you burst and everything falls apart?

Sometimes it is best to take a step back, take a deep breath and take go that Tower Bridge selfie. In all seriousness, travel is not a bad option - it is the most natural way of inducing the feeling you miss someone or that you are missed. The trick is to leave with a bit of preparation to avoid making a mistake during your journey . Plus, if you're flying, you better start thinking about booking your tickets sooner than later.

3. Traveling Makes You Smarter

Get used to picking up new words in different language every time you travel and you will see improvements in your brain capacities, Even more than "just" languages, traveling helps you learn about yourself. You might run into challenging situations where you need to be resourceful and think differently. I'm sure that you will develop a new set of skills that you didn't suspect you had within you.

4. Traveling Improves Your Understanding Of Other Cultures

Brown Ganesha Figurine

Why we travel may differ from one person to another, but people travelling always develop empathy and a deeper understanding of other cultures.
Being more understanding and tolerant about a culture different than ours is part of being smarter, but I consider it as a benefits of traveling in itself. There is a quote by Saint Augustine, which goes “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page”. You could think of it this way: if you read what's in the news or watch the news on TV and don't question it, you're missing on a ton of information. You might think that it makes you smarter and more aware of the world, but it's the exact opposite: it narrows your mind to a unique and biased perspective.

Photo of a White Muslim Mosque
Sure, you probably feel comfortable where you are, but that is just a fraction of the world! If you are a student, take advantage of programs such as Erasmus to get to know more people, experience and understand their culture. Dare traveling to regions you have a skeptical opinion about. I bet that you will change your mind and realize that everything is not so bad abroad.

5. Traveling Makes You More Interesting

I have no doubt that you're quite the conversationalist. That being said, including a few stories from abroad is likely to grant you even more attention. Mentioning something that most people aren't familiar with or bring a new perspective is always a good way to shine in a social situation. No need to write a whole travel essay, just discuss what you've seen and where you've been: people who are accustomed to their daily life will travel with your words.

During my trip to Egypt, my  host and I went out for dinner. He had been to some many different places, the conversation lasted all night long, and I wasn't bored for one minute.

Who do you think people want to listen to: the guy who spent his vacations at home doing some gardening and reading the newspaper, or the one who spent a week in Cuba, driving an old American car, swimming with dolphins and tasting deliciously spicy food? I know which story I want to hear about...

6. Traveling Allows You To Try Amazing Food

Red Portable Stove

Food And Drinks At Starbucks

Speaking of food, I bet you're one hell of a chef and your home meals are delicious. But there is no such thing as trying a typical local dish from another country. Don't trick yourself into going to the Sushi shop next door: you don't know what sushi tastes like until you've been to Japan. As you travel, you discover the real thing, and discover that it's usually very different from what you're used to.

Eating local food in a new country is an entirely new experience. All the flavors are different. Here me out: I'm indian and I love our local recipes. You do to. But let's not kid ourselves: some change would be more than welcome in our daily diet. If only because we're naturally curious. Some food Bloggers travel thousand of kilometres for a specific dish! The least you can do is travel to the next region and try something new.

7. Traveling Makes You Feel Like An Adventurer

Person Standing on Top of Rock

Despite the fact that the world has never been as well connected as today, there are still places that are little known to the average tourist. Setting up a list of places you want to visit is extremely motivating. You have something tangible to go after. I'm currently working on my own bucket list, and I think I'll never see the end of it.

The benefit of traveling to a new place is that it forces you to face the unknown and think differently. You don't need to go spend a month in the jungle! If you live in a large city, just going on a hike over the weekend will make you feel different. Adventures require novelty, so get out of your comfort zone. It might be scary, but in retrospect, you'll see it as the best decision you ever made!

8. Traveling Expands Your (Real) Social Network

Photo of Hand Holding a Black Smartphone

Believe it or not, social networks was once like a real thing - in real life. Crazy, I know. One of the main reasons why I love traveling is that I believe that establishing connections and building a network abroad is one of the smartest things you can do in today’s world. It is sometimes hard to build long-lasting relationship with the people you meet abroad, but it doesn't mean it's not worth meeting new people!

9. Traveling Let you Create Lifetime Memories

Close Up of Pictures

Person Holding Photo of Amusement Park

My grandfather was an amazing story-teller and he used to tell me stories of the trips he made when he was younger. One of my favorites is how he tried eating with chopsticks in China for the first time. He regretted not traveling more as a young man. Years later, he still remembered everything in details: because traveling made a real impression on him. And it probably will on you too.

No matter how insignificant it may seem, the fact that you've had an experience abroad, something that was out of the ordinary, creates a memory that you will remember for a long time.

I think that creating those memories is why many people keep traveling.

10. Traveling Makes You Love Your Home Even More

Man in Black Shirt Standing on Top of Mountain Drinking Coffee

“The magic thing about home is that it feels good to leave, and it feels even better to come back”. You will truly understand the meaning of those words by Wendy Wunder, only upon your return home. On the one hand, it would seem that you’re back where you started, same setting, same people, same problems. Yet you’re not the same - you’re new, full of new knowledge and ideas!

I know that I was getting bored after living my whole life in the same place. I needed to get out, I need a change of scene. I was focusing only the negative: how there isn't much to do around, how you always meet the same people, how nothing changes. Now, when I come home, I'm glad about all of this and I see only the positive.

7 Personal Benefits of Travel: Why Travel?

Final Words On the Benefits of Traveling

I hope that this travel article makes you want to travel more in 2020. As you travel, you realize that the world is a much better place than what you can see on TV when watching the news.

There is a quote by Mark Twain that I love: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do.” ClichĂ© as this may sound, the money you spend on travel, is an investment in yourself.Travel doesn't make you feel as bad for spending money

And one last benefit of traveling: it might provide some money when your flight is disrupted! Did you know that you could get up to 600€ in compensation when your flight is delayed by at least 3 hours or cancelled?
